We were able to fly direct from Toulouse to Agadir on a Royal Maroc flight. Even though we landed briefly in Casablanca at the international airport, we were not required to submit to passport checks until we arrived at our final destination. The Atlantic beachside portion of Agadir is devoted to the tourist industry, with plaza-like hotels that stretch from one end to the other.
We chose a suburb called Inezgane for a couple of days' stay and orientation. This charming hotel with its enclosed garden is called La Pergola.
I didn't ask where the water comes from to keep it succulent, lush and perfumed. Just outside its walls are wide, dust-filled suburban roads, with little in the way of vegetation and lots of smog-producing traffic. The hotel has been in a French family since the end of WWII. Along with a stone-lined dining room and fireplace, there is a bar which is usually filled with jovial visitors. In a more or less alcohol-free zone, it's one of those exceptions.
