These young women agreed to pose for a photo in "the windiest city in France". Perpignan has always had wind, and often, a creative dynamic in the mix of its people. Part of the Occitan - a large cultural region that comprised southern France, a bit of Spain, and a part of Italy up to the Middle Ages - Perpignan provided homes for troubadours and trobairitz. As always, there is a vigorous debate about the origins of these travelling musicians and their songs, and I bet some of you didn't even know that women were a part of the entourage.
