MZB: Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; I am a Canadian independent professional who has advised governments on science and technology (S&T) and international affairs. I have also designed and administered funding programs for S&T and the arts. I have worked at domestic and international levels, including in low income countries. My theatre training starting in childhood introduced me to irony -- and the clever escape. It proved to be the best protection I had in my arsenal, for a turbulent career in the sciences and public policy and everything else.
