A busy place

I didn't expect the bustle we found in Mammallapuram when we got there.  After all, the village had a population of about 12,000 according to the 2001 census, so even if the number is quite a bit larger in 2010, it would still be a small city, I reasoned...
I had forgotten about the tourists like ourselves.
Anyway, we merged with the crowd who came from India and other parts of the world to view and marvel at the heritage site, clamber up the rocks, tuck in for a stay or watch the dance festival.

  1. This dance festival ranks as one of the major cultural events on the Southern India winter calender. Great works - ancient to modern. Great back up bands. Remarkable milieu. And the active fishing beach just down the street.
